Hi Everyone,
This is the diet my Doctor and the Nutritionist have me following:
Breakfast- Adkins Protein Shake
Lunch- Adkins Protein Shake
1cup cooked NON-starchy veggies or 2c raw non-starchy veggies
Dinner- Adkins Shake
1cup cooked NON-starchy veggies or 2c raw non-starchy veggies

Snack: 1 16-20oz Bottle of Isopure (you can get it at GNC, it is a clear liquid in different flavors that has 40g of protein in a bottle)

I was told that the goal is to eliminate carbs so that your liver will shrink as much as possible prior to surgery, they reccomend their patients start the diet 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Does each surgeon who performs these procedures have their own preferred pre surgical diet plan, do they recommend certain pre- op diets over others,or can the patient choose their own pre op diet as long as they lose the necessary weight for the surgery to occur.

not advisable lynn u might as well get used to it i have been told i wont be able to drink alcohol for at least 12months after surgery and with very little food going through yr stomach u will feel the effects of alcohol quickly. the reason for the liver reducing diet is because a fatty liver becomes crumbley and bleeds more easily and with alcohol yr blood would be thinner than without (hence why alcoholics can bleed to death quickly after a fall) by know u may have had yr surgery so hope all went well hun, if u havnt good luck xxx I have done alot of research into to this but Im still waiting to see if my trust will fund my operation.

You should have tried to use some Herbal Life products. They are quite good when it comes to keeping you low on calories and not starving.

My name is Anna and Im at the end of my perop for surgery but need to still have a psy-eval but was told that I have to start a perop diet what is that? I have lost 22 pound already and really need some insite on this.
Can any one help?

I TO AM ON THE LOW FAT PRE-OP DIET AND FEEL LIKE I AM STARVING. JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAD ANY TIPS. I HAVE 6 MORE POUNDS TO LOSE BY MAY 12.

Hi! Just wondering how you are doing. Also would like to know the details of your pre-op diet. Did it contain liquid protein? Did it also contain "real" food? Was it difficult to follow?

I followed a stricter diet than required because I had gained weight 2 months before, so with 2 weeks left, I dropped 27 lb in 8 days, right in time for OFFICIAL weigh in...that was close.

I know how you felt. I am also on the 2 week diet before surgery and I am not taking it well. I have severe migraines when I get hungary I am only on the first day and have a massive migraine. How did you do did you loose the weight? Please give me any info if you can. how are you doing now after the surgery?
